That's an awkward start,
the question "Table for two?"
Just the one, thank you.
From the northern dirt
to the towering green south,
time flies around here.
Winding miles wander
through casinos and roadkill,
amidst movers' hum.
Unwanted alarms -
for horns altering no one,
cutting through the dawn.
Originally

Funny how things change.
She landed on me,
briefly beautiful then gone.
A ghost town ballad.
Our eyes met midstream,
intense until he dipped down.
Then I could finish.
I was terrified
as he chased me down the track.
Weird thing, I love dogs.
She calls me baby.
It's only her second day
on the floor, she said.
Thunder's rumble grows.
I can't hear the music or
your voice on the phone.
In the reflections
as the clouds are passing by,
he keeps rolling on.
